ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is an ancient healing art that treats the body through harmonizing the physical, mental and emotional bodies. Fine, sterile one-use acupuncture needles are places along energetic pathways called meridians to increase circulation, release tension, detox and nourish the mind, body and spirit.
Acupuncture can stimulate sensory nerves under the tissues, under skin and in muscles and produce natural substances such as pain relieving endorphins, regulate hormones and uses a variety of the body’s natural mechanisms to heal itself.
Acupuncture can also reaches the mental-emotional body and can alleviate the body from stress induced pain and tension, emotionally induced anger and sadness and help treat a variety of symptoms associated with psycho-somatic disorders such as PTSD, IBS and Depression.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A comprehensive medical history will be taken during your initial visit to determine the root cause of your condition. In addition to the chief complaint your diet, sleep, energy and activity will be investigated to help design the best treatment plan. Each visit includes a follow up intake, including a traditional tongue and pulse diagnosis to monitor the progress.
Once the needles are placed into position, you will rest for 20-30 minutes allowing the body to respond and produce desired effect.
Initial visits usually last around 90 minutes and follow ups around 60 minutes. The number and frequency of visits will be established after your first treatment. In general acute conditions tend to respond best to frequent treatments for a shorter period of time while chronic conditions may require more longterm treatment strategies.
We recommend that you do not arrive for your treatment on an empty stomach and that you eat a light snack within a few hours of your appointment. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your initial visit to fill in paperwork.
